Brief Answer:
Excessive use of I-pill is not recommended.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

Undue use of I-pill is not recommended, as its name Indicated its use limited in emergency situations.

You should employ another method of regular contraception.

As such I-pill is very safe (it does not have in mind that you can use it in excess) and it has no long term and serious side effects.

Short term side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache, body ache, vision problem, unexpected bleeding.

It may cause menstrual irregularities which may get solved in the next cycle.

Your period may come early or it may be delayed.

Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more.

Good luck.

Dr.Richa

Brief Answer:
No, it is not very dangerous.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Nice to hear from you once again.

It is not very dangerous but why we should take the risk.

You should use a regular method of contraception in the future.

As we discuss previously that as such I-pill is not having any long term and serious side effect.

It will not case cancer and tumor.

It may cause menstrual irregularites due to hormonal imbalance ( It contains high doses of hormone in it).

So please do not take so much stress, better use safe sex in future and use regular method of contraception.

Hope it is useful.

Hi,
Thank you so much. I will discontinue the use of i-pill immediate effectively.
Although there are few things you might clear up for me.
A) earlier consumption of ipill did not show any side effect any whatsoever. But since the last dose i showed an irregular menstrual bleeding all of a sudden. it subsided in its usual course. but earlier this also did not happen and neither were my periods delayed. help me out with that.
B) What possible things i need to do to repair the damage caused by ipill till now to my body

Brief Answer:
I-pill may cause period irregularities.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Here are the answers of your questions.

1)I-pill may cause menstrual irregularities due to hormonal imbalance( contain high doses of hormones) but sometimes it will not cause menstrual disturbances.

Menstrual disturbances can resolve in 2-3,cycle.

2) I-pill contains hormone named levonorgestrel, it is like progesterone.

So you should not worry about it, the effect will go away in 3-6 months period.

You should drink a lot of water and green tea.

Damage will repair by itself.

Regards

Hi,

well thanks for clearing the doubts about many things. I have come to know it also might cause kidney stones if i have consumed ipill or any birth control pill. Well do i need to fear from that ?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal (11 hours later)
Brief Answer:
No need to worry!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Sorry for long delay in my response.

Yes, it is true that renal stone can be caused by I-pill or any other birth control pill.

Stones are formed due to deposition of calcium in the kidney, so anything which increases calcium deposition may cause renal stone.

No need to worry!

Drink as much water as you can.
Decrease intake of excess calcium.

Hope it is useful.

Good day.
