Question: Hi doctor i am 29 .On 25-01-15 there was a case of condom.getting burst snd due to which for precaution my wife took the ipill within couple of hours after the incident.
There was a similar case which happened with us on 27-01-15 and again the reason was the same.
Please suggest if she should uske the ipill again and what can we do to prevent pregnancy as we don't want it right now. Also suggest which type of doctor can we meet to discuss some if thse issues to avoid any problems in future. Kindly reply as soon as possible.

Brief Answer:
She needs to take I-pill at the earliest.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) In this case, she needs to take I-PILL again within first 72 hrs of sex or condom failure (preferably within 24 hrs) to avoid unwanted pregnancy.

2) You should practice SAFE sex (first 5 days before and after period) if her period is regular. Another thing, she can take REGULAR combined hormonal pill if you want to involve in sex frequently.

3) Emergency pill should be used in emergency purpose only and NOT for regular purpose as it may cause irregular cycle if used frequently.

4) You should consult with local gynecologist regarding this or in case of any problem.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and practice safe sex in future.

Regards,
Dr S Patra

Brief Answer:
Femilon is regular contraceptive pill.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up query.

1) Regular pill like FEMILON etc is used widely. It should be taken from D1 or D5 of menstrual cycle. It is continued for next 21 days with 7 days gap to get period. It gives highest protection (more than 99%) after 1-month used and regular monthly period. It is prescription only medicine.

2) I-Pill gives more than 95% protection against unwanted pregnancy if taken within first 24 hrs of sexual intercourse. Here, chance of pregnancy is quite LOW.

Hope, I have answered your query. Kindly, close the discussion.

All the best and good luck.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
