Question: what are some conditions that can cause intense vaginal itch, I have had this itching for over 6 months

Vaginal itching can be due to vaginitis.
Causes of vaginitis can be candida infection (fungal ), trichomonas (bacterial ) infection or bacterial vaginosis
pH of vagina is to be controlled for this you can use vaginal wash containing lactobacilli
Take a kit orally which contains antibiotic like azithromycin and antifungal drug like fluconazole as well as tinidazole for bacterial infection but these should be taken under doctor's guidance and prescription.
vaginal pessaries are also available but should be taken under doctor's guidance
Local application of neomycin ointment also helps
