Question: Had anal protected sex with ts and did not cum but she pulled condom off and put lube on anus and i put urethra on around it but cld not get hard. Should i be worried about contracting HIV? She also gave me a blow job. She had negative test up but says she sleeps with 20+ guys a week. I cannot sleep and my anxiety level is high this is first time i have ever done anal. Thx

Brief Answer:
Exposure is high, HIV test reasonably mandatory

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

I am afraid the sex type and nature, and considering the fact she sleeps with many persons are important risk factors with regards to contracting HIc and other sexually transmitted infections. You are not sure of her test results, as she may as well be lying.

It is imperative to get an HIV test now done. If negative, you get another one done within the next three months (antibody or usual tests). If you want exact results, even after a month, a test done searching for antigens (p24) or the polymerase chain reaction, though expensive, would give you exact results on whether you contracted HIV or not.

I am afraid the exposure is high and an HIV test is reasonably mandatory in this case. Its necessary to get one done to be sure and exact next and appropriate steps to take.

Kind regards

Dr Bain

Brief Answer:
Difficult to predict, different in persons, risk

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

it is really very difficult to talk of the odds in this case. For sure, the biological systems of each and everyone do differ under these circumstances, and one is not really sure of the status of the lady, the effectiveness of protection she has when having sex with other men, the relative status of the men and the effectiveness of the barrier methods, for instance the condoms used.

What is sure is that there is a chance, in this case a bit higher based on the description of the sexual act and the number of clients of unknown status, and her own status, unknown.

Difficult for real predicting the odds for there are many unknowns, but the risk I am afraid stands.

kind regards,

Dr Bain
