Question : Dear Doctor Rynne,
Last night I was fingered by a married man of unknown status. I put nitrile/latex glove on his hand and used a lot of lube(Crisco). He did this for about 20 minutes. Neither of us had orgasms and there was no oral or anal performed. The glove was in tact after he finished. I am simply seeking reassurance. Was I at any risk for HIV? Thank you in advance. XXXXX

Brief Answer:
NO!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this heightened fears about HIV. Your were not at risk and there is no need to get worried. With gloves, even if he were HIV positive, there is no way you would contract this infection. This is what doctors put on to treat patients with HIV and no one contracts HIV from doing so. However, always protect yourself during all sexual relationships with persons whose status are unknown to you.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Dear Doctor Ditah,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I'm ridden with anxiety over it. Of course there was no intercourse that took place nor oral yet still my mind races and plays its tricks on me. I will just have to wait out the period and get tested to ease my anxiety. I wish there was a test that did not have a window period. Thank you again.
Regards,

Brief Answer:
There is no need to get worried!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If I were to get tested each time I examined an HIV positive patient, I would have gotten tested even today as we speak. HIV is not transmitted that way and you should be relaxed.
I wish you well.
