What Are The Chances Of HIV Transmission Through Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Question: I have had an exposure to unprotected oral sex on october 24 2014. I got test done on March 5 2015 after 132 days of exposure and it was non-reactive using tridot method. Again i took tridot test on 10th march it was non reactive. Can this be conclusive.

My penis was inside the mouth for less than 2 minutes and i did not ejaculate. I do not know about the status of my partner.

Hi XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic.
I have gone through the details and can make out your anxiety.

Usually HIV is not transmitted by oral sex unless there is ulcers in areas of contact in both individuals. It is unlikely as it would have been evident to you.
Tridot method detects antibodies to HIV. These tests are conclusive after 3 months of exposure.
It has repeatedly come negative twice after 3 months. It is conclusive and you are free from HIV.
There is no need for further tests.

You can get back for any clarification.

Thanks for the reply.

I have read through the forums asking to go for elisa or western blot test at end of six months. Your suggestions with regards to my case please.

Still can i consider my tridot test after 130 days to be conslusive and are tridot tests accurate and conclusive.

Further are 3 month window period enough to test for HIV through Tridot test.
I do not want to be a carrier to my wife or kids and very depressed. please help.

Brief Answer:
3 months post exposure test is conclusive.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
I can make out your anxiety.
Tridot is considered conclusive after 3 months .Usually antibodies are formed by 2-6 weeks maximum by 3 months.Very rarely in immunosuppresed individuals , or on anticancer therapy or immunosuppressive therapy antibodies may take up to 6 months to be formed.I do not see any of these possibilities. I would rate this as conclusive tests.
You can allay fears of HIV.
