Question : I'm still trying to understand my chances of being infected with hiv.. After having protected anal sex with a condom for the duration of the sexual act, I removed the condom and inserted my bare penis into his rectum for all of two seconds and removed it. At which time we masturbated until climax. Prior to that we both engaged in oral sex briefly. I saw blood on the condom and didn't think nothing of it. He later told me he was hiv poz and I became very upset and scared because of the blood of saw on the condom. He's been infected for 9 months without treatment. He said the doctor said he didn't need any at the time of diagnosis. I then went to the doctor for post exposure. They wouldn't give me any post exposure meds. So I took some Truvada from a friend that is already hiv poz. I took it for two days and stop because it was making me sick. I'm planning to self test myself for hiv December 15, 2014.. That will be 30 days since my exposure. I'm scared shitless. Even though I inserted my penis once and only for a split second.. I'm afraid I'm hiv poz.

Brief Answer:
Chances of HIV is almost nil.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
The chances of HIV transmission by single unprotected anal intercourse is 1/ 200 to 1/ 1000.
It increases if more frequent exposures.
Here there is few seconds exposure. Hope the blood has not come in contact with your genitals and only on condom. If there is open wound/ ulcer in the area of contact(penis) the chances are slightly higher.
The chances by oral sex is rare unless there are open wounds or ulcers in both area of contact.
The pep reduces the risk further if taken within 3 days .
I would rate chances as almost nil.
You can get tested for HIV RNA PCR at this stage to relieve the anxiety.
You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you

I do understand your feedback.. But I'm trying to rationalize using a condom for the duration of penetration and then removing the condom and then inserting my penis ever so quickly.. In and out.. Like blinking your eyes twice, that's how sudden it was. But seeing the blood on the condom, scared me. Also knowing he's hiv positive and not being treated, has me even more worried. I plan to test 12/15/14. It would be 30 days from the last and only exposure.
