Question : I had protected sex with a woman, during which I noticed a very strong odor. I quickly pulled out and noticed a heavy white discharge (mucous looking). I was worried and went to get tested 2 weeks later, to include HIV early detection. Everything was negative, should i get retested?

Brief Answer:
Suggested retest with rapid 4th generation HIV I II and p24 test at 1 month

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for writing in.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Since you had protected sex therefore the risk of HIV is very less and only about 1 in 10000.

2. You pulled out quite quickly and that reduces your risks of getting infected.

3. It is said that HIV is accurately tested by rapid 4th generation HIV I and II antibodies and p24 antigen test at one month from date of probable exposure.

4. Since you got tested at two weeks, I suggest a re test at one month or more to confirm a negative HIV report.

5. Meanwhile if you get any urinary symptoms or discharge from the penis or rashes then please get tested for an STD infection.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
