What Are The Chances Of Hemorrhoids In Kids?

default
Posted on Fri, 14 Nov 2014
Question: My 11 year old daughter is bleeding every time she poops. Tonight there was so much blood. I looked at her rectum and there are two small tears and I think a hemorrhoid. But can this cause that much blood? She has only been pooping every 3-4 days and it is big, hard round stool. It just looks like too much blood for it to be from a hemorrhoid or a tear? Can it be internal? the only things we changed recently are taking her off gluten (5 months ago) and she has been taking Vyvannse every day for 4 months. Can it be a side effect?

Brief Answer:
Needs examination

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I went through your query and understood your concerns.

For passing fresh blood ( bright bed coloured) there are two causes, one haemorrhoids which is pain less and another one fissure which is painful.

Passing hard stool is one of the factor leads to haemorrhoids formation.
vyvannse is not know to produce haemorrhoids .
If a patient comes to me with similar complains first I would like to do physical examination and depending on examination findings relevant investigations .
Depending on stage of haemorrhoids treatment varies, stool softener in early stages to surgical correction in late stages.

Usually internal bleeding will be Maroon coloured , if its so needs to be evaluated.

Hope I answered your query. Feel free to ask further related query.

Wish her a good health.

Regards
