Question : Hi, my girlfriend had her last period on 28th XXXXXXX 17. We had unprotected sex last week, and she consumed i pill (within 60 hours) on 22nd July 17, early morning. According to her, she should get her periods by 26th July 17, but same is delayed and its been a week since she consumes i pill. Should we wait patiently for another week, or when should we check for chances of pregnancy?

Firstly, you had the intercourse during the safe period. Ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next period and this is when conception can occur.

In addition, she had the emergency pill for added protection. So, there is no worry about conception.

The delay in the period could be due to the high hormone content in the pill and stress.

In this scenario, you can wait for the onset of the natural period for another week and if there is no period even after this, go for further management.
