Brief Answer:
Treatment indicated

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I have seen okk the details you have provided.
1. You can probably wait for a year under normal circumstances. But your wife's SGOT and SGPT are 1.5 times and two times the upper limit. This suggests that their is on going liver damage. Interferon and ribavarin can be initiated at this point. In case you decide to wait I would suggest a liver biopsy. If this shows minimal fibrosis and Inflammation you can wait for sobo to become available.
2 In case you use ribavarin and interferon the chances of becoming negative are approximately 80 to 90 percent ( this is if viral load becomes undetectable at 4 and 12 weeks).
3. In case you choose interferon and ribavarin , pregnancy should be avoided for 6 months after completion of the treatment as interferon can cause abortions and ribavarin is associaed with teratogenicity.
A six month break should be safe
Hope this helps
