Question: Good morning Dr XXXXXXX
My question to you-

My friend's dad had been diagnosed encephalopathy.He has right thalamic bleed with ventricular extension and hydrocephalus with BP 220/110 .What are the chances of his survival.?

Overall survival chances are low.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.

I understand your concern.

As per your clinical details,the outlook is currently poor.

This is mainly because of the extension of the bleed into the ventricular cavities causing a picture of obstructive hydrocephalus.

This can further elevate the blood pressure.

The blood pressure has to be reduced promptly to around 160/100 mm of hg.

The overall prognosis can be improved in presence of urgent neurosurgical intervention draing the accumulated blood.
