What Are The Diet Changes To Be Made For Chronic Anal Fissure?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: hi doctor,

I have written earlier with queries on chronic anal fissure.
I havnt done any surgery yet. Due the change in die habits my bowels r soft n painless most of times.
the only prob i m facing in the spasms which usually occur if i sit too long. i understand its bcos of the pressure on the anal muscle. Is surgery the only way it can pass away forever?
After GTN treatment failure 4 months ago, i was suggested surgery. Since thn i m not taking any medication just hoping i will heal naturally.
Can these recurring muscle spasms be a cause of concern in future or cause any further damage to my health?

Brief Answer:
you can get a second opinion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Wellcome to Health Care Magic,

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, history and will suggest you some possible options you can go for.

Here I would appretiate the diet changes you have made and its a good thing that your bowel movements are getting better now.

Actually Fissures are mostly treatable with medicines and diet care but there come a stage when they can not be treated with out surgical intervention.

The doctor treating you must have suggested surgery for you as last resort.

Here I would suggest you to go for a second opinion with all your reports to another surgeon ,
if you can do it.

If that other surgeon also suggests surgery then please go for it because at later stages fissure doesnt get better without surgery infact it will keep getting worse..

Fissure surgery is just a routine surgery not a major one , so before it gets too bad to handle , i woukd suggest you to get a quick second opinion and plan for a surgery if second doctor suggests it too.

If this gets worse you will have to undergo surgery even then but at that time results wont be that good so its better to get it done on early stages, if all whats left is surgery.

Fissure has damaged nerve roots exposed so when bowel material touches it..it gets spasms these spasms will go when fissure gets better.

I hope this answers your question. If you have more you can ask otherwise close ans rate the diacussion.

Wish you health..!!
