default
Posted on Tue, 25 Apr 2017
Question: I just turned 35 and concieve a baby but I am extremely worried about birth defects like down syndrome.I don't have any one in my family or my husband family suffering from any birth defects.
But still I am worried since my FSH is 12.5 and I think it means I have bad quality eggs in my body.

Brief Answer:
Do not take stress

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Increased FSH do not imply bad quality eggs.
Risk of Down syndrome increases with age, however the risk is not very high at 35 years of age.
Moreover, Down syndome can be easily detected prenatally by ultrasound and serum screening in first trimester, so timely intervention can be taken.
I suggest you not to take stress, undergo appropriate investigations and be positive.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
