What Are The Early Signs And Symptoms Of Lyme Disease?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Aug 2015
Question: About 2 months ago I went on a trip to Europe where I visited several countries and I hiked around a bit. After one of the trips, about 3 days later I experienced some arm pain which I thought were muscle pains. They were on my forearm close to my elbow with 1 arm feeling the pain and then a few days later my other arm felt the pain too. I think I had a fever and headache for 1 day or so but that was it. The arm pain lasted for 2 weeks and then it stopped but sometimes I have headaches from time to time, I was wondering if maybe I got lyme disease but I didn't see any red bites with target marks. I did feel on my head a bump that hurt a little bit when I touched it so maybe I had gotten bitten on the head. I was wondering what you think of this situation since it has been 2 months now if it is something I should be worried out or should get checked out.

Brief Answer:
Testing about Lyme disease needed even to exclude it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Symptoms of Lyme disease in early stages ( first days ) include flu-like symptoms (body aches, fever, fatigue, headaches) after the bite by a tick.

The small red bump and rash around it should be evident if you were bitten by a tick.

If infected, you should notice already latter symptoms of Lyme, since two months passed.

Latter symptoms of Lyme disease include joint pain and swelling, neurologic symptoms such weakness and numbness in limbs, temporary facial paralysis, impaired muscles movements.

Not all the people infected with Lyme manifest all the symptoms mentioned above, so if tick bite evident ( rash ), or in serious doubts, better get checked.

Early diagnosis and treatment results in complete recovery, if left untreated Lyme disease could lead to serious health complications.

In conclusion, you need to be tested about Lyme disease even to exclude it.

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Take care.
