What Are The Effects Of Parkinson's Disease On Sexual Health?

default
Posted on Wed, 13 Jul 2016
Question: what effect does Parkinson's have on sex? I am a 74 year old male and have been living w/ Parkinson's for the past 8 years. My "tool" has not worked for the same length of time and in effect I have been " side lined " and the coach will not put me in the game. My " tool " just hangs and looks at the top of my shoes, vs looking at the sun. DO I just have a bad case of the " Ed's " or is ther any corrective actions that I can do/ diet or med's?
Also what impact does becoming a " Gelding" have on ejaculation ? At the present time my one " eyed friend " just spits and drools. ( submitted : YYYY@YYYY ) aka the XXXXXXX Stud--put me in coach !

Brief Answer:
medicines for parkinson's as well as disorder itself contribute to ED

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

Many of the patients with parkinson's suffer from sexual dysfunction.
This is due to multiple factors including the disease process itself, side effects of medications and psychological issues. The most common sexual problem for men with Parkinson’s disease is achieving and maintaining an erection, followed by impaired sexual arousal, drive and orgasm. Medications can help improve erectile function.

5-PDE inhibitor group of drugs or apomorphine can be used in treatment.

5-PDE inhibitor group of medicines includes sildenafil (viagra) or tadalafil (cialis). It is proven drug for male erectile dysfunction. One of them should be used 2 hours prior to sex. They cause headache, stuffy nose nausea and gastric discomfort like common side effects. Proper physical check-up of cardiac system should be done by a doctor before starting the same. These are prescription medicines and you need to consult doctor/psychiatrist/sexologist for the prescription.

Diet will not help at this stage.

If prostate gland is working and semen production is continuous, ejaculation may occur without erection of penis. Excess semen in seminal vesicles comes out with some excitation. That is why you have faced that.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
