What Are The Harmful Effects Of Xaria On Fetus?
Question: Hi doctor.
I was having fever from one week despite strong antibiotics so my doctor advised to have blood test. In those tests my esr level came to 40. So he asked for xrays Which came normal. After which as I still had cough and swelling in left chest he prescribed to me xaria plus tablet once in night. Now the problem is I think I had implantation bleeding yesterday. So will this tablet harm? Are there any safe alternative to this?

I read your query and I understand your concerns about Xaria plus on pregnancy.
Following is my reply:
1) Xaria does have harmful effects on the fetus as per studies done on animals. Hence you can presume that there is possibility of harm. About any alternatives, I think it is better if you consult a pulmonologist and discuss about non-pharmacological alternatives to treat the ailment since a physical examination is needed for that.
2) More that this tablet there is harm from Xray what you got. X ray needs to be avoided while pregnancy is suspected.
3) Yes there is possibility of harm / risk due to xarys as well as xaria tablets.
4) But these harmful effects are not always 100 percent and does not occur in everybody.
5) Hence you continue the pregnancy safely without worries as of now.
6) Please get an ultrasound scan done in 12th week and 20th week. If there is anything abnormal, it can be diagnosed.
