Question : I have torn ligaments in both my left and right knee. The left is moderate to a high grade partial tearing of the MCL. It will be many months before I can receive any medical treatment. In the animal kingdom Ive heard apex predators lay down near water and begin up to a month long fast with minimal movement and consume only water.I am in good health and can rely on supplements, salts and anti-inflammatories etc to maintain my health. Although this could be very difficult I believe this type of " fasting "is highly beneficial and can give these ligaments an opportunity to repair themselves without the need for complicated surgery.
Brief Answer:
Only rest is helpful not fasting.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Only rest is helpful not fasting. You can rest your knee joints and knee splints can be worn to give rest to your knees. Plaster will be more useful. These heal very well with conservative treatment without needing operation. vitamin B and C is of help in recovery. You can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief.
You can discuss with your doctor about it.
Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health
