What Are The Repercussions Of Accidentally Repeating HPV Vaccination?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Nov 2016
Question: My daughter is 24 years old. She had completed hpv vaccines on Feb. 2010. She went to physical today, and she got another hpv vaccine today because she says she wasn't sure. It's too late, but i am concerned if it will affect her in future. Do you know anybody who made the same mistake? I would appreciate it if you could answer. Thanks a lot. XXXX

Brief Answer:
Call XXXX with question about XXX9: 0000-000-0000

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,

Accidental repeats of vaccines do happen and in general with most vaccines, this does not cause any long term problems. I tried to find information about this specific to the HPV vaccine but was not able to.

If you want to pursue it further I would suggest this:
Your daughter can contact the doctor's office where she had the vaccine today and ask for the manufacturer name of what she was given. The nurse will have entered the manufacturer and vaccine lot number in her chart.

Step two is to contact the manufacturer and pose this question to them. They will be the best sources of information about this. It's possible that given the vaccine is relatively new, that there isn't literature on this.

If she doesn't want to call the doctor's office for the manufacturer information/brand name of the vaccine, you can try the XXXXcompany that makes Gardasil-9 which is the most commonly used HPV vaccine. What she received was probably the Gardasil-9 HPV vaccine.

Here is contact information from Merck: https://www.merckvaccines.com/Products/Gardasil9

Their vaccine information phone number is: 877 - 829 - 6372.

I hope this information helps.
