Question : My daughter age 15 started taking 20 mgs once a day of cymbalta about 10 days ago. Today she got her daily dose at 6:30am and I inadvertently gave her a second dose at about 5:30 this evening. She also,takes depakote 3times a day--250 mgs. So at 5:30pm she got the depakote and cymbalta together. Is it dangerous that I gave her the extra dose of cymbalta by mistake? She was fine but said she was sleepy at 9pm and is now asleep (11pm). Will she be ok? Is she in danger? What do I do tomorrow? When should I give her the next does of depakote? Should I skip tomorrow, give it to her later in the day or what? I'm worried about the extra dose I gave her.

I can understand your concern. Cymbalta is Duloxetine and is a safe drug. Even if you gave her tablet in double dose accidentally even then there is no risk. No need to worry.

She is ok.

Just give the dose as per prescription in morning. Avoid making the same mistake again.

Give her Depakote as per her prescription 3 times a day.

No need to skip the dose tomorrow.
