Hello and welcome,

Prolonged exposure to molds, spores, and mycotoxins can cause a variety of problems, predominantly respiratory and allergic.

The main thing is to get away from the moldy environment which I imagine you have now done. Then conventional treatment relies mostly on treating the resulting symptoms (such as treatment with corticosteroid inhalers for asthma).

However, there are a variety of other therapies for detoxification from mold exposures. These include nebulized (inhaled) reduced glutathione, steam saunas, cholestyramine (a medication used for decreasing cholesterol) and antioxidants.

Here is an article that may help: http://www.hindawi.com/journals/tswj/2013/767482/

You might want to consult with a physician who is trained in environmental medicine. Here is a link to the XXXXXXX Academy of Environmental Medicine and it has a physician look-up that may help you find a doctor in your area: https://www.aaemonline.org/

I hope this helps. I don't think we have any environmental medicine physicians on this site, but if you have an HCM subscription where you have unlimited number of questions you can post, you can repost your question (also provide some history of the exposure and your symptoms) but write in the first line of the question: FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MEDICINE DOCTOR ONLY. If we have such a doctor, it will be routed to them. It may take some time for them to respond as we don't have such drs. on this site all the time. But many of the doctors on this site are in XXXXXXX and they may know more about mold illnesses than many XXXXXXX doctors. To repost your question you may first need to close this one. Good luck to you.
