Brief Answer:
Please consult ER doctors and get the cap removed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

It depends on the size and material of the bottle cap for it to pass if swallowed.

The cricopharynx, which is a region of the throat, is the narrowest part and in many patients, foreign bodies might get stuck in this region.

I find that the patient is 13 years old and feels the cap is stuck in the throat as mentioned in your query. To me it appears that there is a possibility that it might be stuck in the cricopharynx.

In this case, it is suggested to go to an ER and consult the doctor. They might take a xray and then proceed to remove the cap with an endoscope after confirming the location where it is stuck.

Even if the cap slips down the throat, it should be removed before it passes out of the stomach.

Hope your query is answered.
