Question: Hi.. My wife is 31weeks pregnant. Previously she had UTI. She had trinorm capsule for few days. And again doctor suggested to continue for 2weeks. Recently I came to know that trinorm composition. Cranberry extract., hibiscus extract and d-mannose. I heard that hibiscus extract is not good in pregnancy. Could you please help me on This.

Brief Answer:
Mixed research on its effects

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Thanks for posting your query.

There are mixed researches on the effects of hibiscus extract during pregnancy. Most research is on animals and states that it can affect the onset of puberty in female offspring. Also doubtful results on its efficacy during pregnancy. Keeping in view, limited research and literature, I will suggest to not take such medicines. These may have unknown side effects.

If her previous UTI is cured, there is no need to worry. Take a balanced diet and cleaner water and things will go just fine.
