Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com
This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
The symptoms you have mentioned before the dog's death is not specific for rabies. When dogs grow old and die, these are common symptoms. A rabid dog most importantly becomes aggressive, gradually avoids light and sound and avoids water, generally grows weak and die. Such symptoms were not present as per your history. Rabies can spread through saliva of infected dog, bites and licks are other modes of transmission.
So taking rabies vaccine is not mandatory. You can take the vaccine if there is history of lick or bite, or the dog had been diagnosed as a rabid dog before its death. Otherwise, it might well be skipped.

Hope i have answered your question.
If you have any further questions i will be happy to help.
Regards

Brief Answer:
Follow as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Well the symptoms you mentioned did not specifically point towards rabies.
If you have seen significant change in behaviour of the dog since last few days, then only it can be of some concern.
Otherwise I dont feel that it is necessary to get vaccinated.

Wish you good health.
Regards.
