What Are The Risks Of Developing Zika Virus While On Enbrel?

Question: I have psoriatic arthritis and take Enbrel. What are my risks of Zika virus when traveling to the Caribbean? Are my risks greater because of my comprimised immune system (from the Enbrel)?

Well, as you know the Zika Virus is spread through a mosquito bite. So you carry the similar risk as any other person in the community. It is not transmitted by airborne or water borne. So the prime thing here would be to avoid any mosquito bites. It is just like DEngue or chikungunya which is having an epidemic in certain countries.
Keep your body parts covered in the epidemic areas and use mosquito repellant creams

Enbrel as compared to other biologicals does not compromise your immunity too much. But yes, it does make you more prone to Flu's around. But Zika virus is something we can avoid by avoiding mosquito bites

you should be good to go
