Question : My doctor prescribed ciprofloxacin for 10 days. After about a week, I started feeling a pain in my left shoulder. I also developed some soreness in my right hand. It's been a week since I stopped taking the medication but I still feel the pain and soreness. When will this go away?
Brief Answer:
could cause tendinitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
ciprofloxacin may cause tendinitis. The Achilles tendon seems to be the most susceptible one. If tendinitis is the cause, it may take at least a few weeks (not less than 4). You'd better visit your doctor to determine the origin of the pain.
Please note though that ciprofloxacin may have lasting effects on tendons and may make them susceptible to inflammation and rupture even months after taking the drug.
I hope you find my comments helpful!

Thank you. Will my doctor be able to diagnose if tendinitis is developing?
Brief Answer:
yes
Detailed Answer:
You're welcome!
Your doctor should be able to form a differential diagnosis list for your symptoms and determine the most probable cause. I'm sure your doctor will do that just fine! Otherwise your doctor might refer you to an orthopedics specialist.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
