Question : My doctor has prescribed clonazepam for my insomnia. I would like to know the safe and proper procedure for stopping the drug.

I can understand your concerns.

Stopping clonazepam depends on multiple factors like duration of drug intake, dose of drug, improvement in symptoms and intensity of withdrawal symptoms.

Please mention your dose, duration so that I can guide you accordingly.

Usually, I taper down the drug reducing by 0.25mg every week.
Or, other way is to replace it by long acting drug like diazepam in equivalent doses. It is easier to discontinue diazepam.
