Brief answer....pain could be due to gastritis caused by prednisone or may be due to strain in chest muscles due to persistent coughing
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Prednisone can cause pain but it is generally associated with nausea, vomiting sensation or actual vomiting, burning in chest, acidity etc.
Other reason could be soreness of chest or strain of chest muscles caused by persistent coughing.Such type of pain generally occurs in people suffering from respiratory disorders,as in your case.
In case it is soreness of muscles due to coughing,as it appears, treatment would involve local ice pack, avoiding lifting weight and doing heavy work, taking rest and taking drugs like ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day as anti inflammatory.
In case it is gastritis, then you will have to start a proton pump inhibitor like PANTOPROZOLE 40 mg once a day and making sure that prednisone is taken immediately after meals.
In case you find it difficult to distinguish between these two types of pains, you may consult your doctor.
I hope it helps however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
