Brief Answer:
Sofaret safe, dryness of lips &skin, monitoring of liver function tests,

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
Sofaret is Isotretinoin.
It is very effective in the treatment of moderate to severe acne but needs to be continued for atleast 4-5 months to see significant results.
Your doctor is right in saying that he will continue isotretinoin for a long time.
It doesn't have much side effects apart from dryness of skin and lips.
It requires monitoring of liver function tests and lipid profile at baseline and then every 2 months.
Moreover pregnancy has to be avoided during the period of intake of isotretinoin and 3 months after stopping it.

Dr Asmeet
