What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Levaquin?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Apr 2017
Question: Good morning,
I'm on levaquin, 500mg, advair inhaler, and prednisone for bronchitis, pneumonia, and asthma. After reading the awful side effects of levaquin, I'm a little nervous about the continued tendon damage possible even after the medicine is stopped. I'm a 61 yr old female, very healthy, well, was till this occurred, on no meds regularly and am very active. I was a p.e. Teacher and continue to walk 2-3 miles a day and do cardio, such as a stepper, elyptical, or interval training and weight training, but not everyday. I don't overdo, I am getting older. I'm worried about possible tendon damage when I go back to these activities. Should I be? Also am I contagious? Thank you! Kathy

Brief Answer:
Levaquin may not be as toxic as you feel.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Suegeon.
Levaquin is an antibiotic to be taken only for a limited time. And in the time frame it is unlikely to cause any tendon damage.
In Bronchial Asthma some medicines are necessary where the benefits overweigh side effect.
All chest Infections can be spread through cough . If don't keep hygiene then you might be contagious.
Thanks for the question. Please feel free for any other question.
