default
Posted on Wed, 24 Aug 2016
Question: I think I might have bipolar disorder. I will have intense highs of feeling very good about myself and overly sexual with my boyfriend. Than their are days which I'm very depressed and it's hard for me to get out of bed (more days than not). I live with my boyfriend and he says I sleep talk in my sleep almost every night and I sit up and open my eyes and will get angry and curse at him. I don't know what to do at this point. It's hard to function living like this. I also suffer from severe anxiety

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Bipolar disorder requires at least one manic episode during which you go at least 7 days without sleep. It does not sound like you meet criteria for bipolar disorder. Instead, this may be a combination of major depression and anxiety. I would visit a primary care doctor or psychiatrist to consider treatment with an antidepressant, which treats both depression and anxiety very well.
