Question : Dear Doctor,

Hope you are doing great.

I have two questions.

1. I have IBS. Suddenly my stool is changed to pellet and I am urinating in yellow color. Till few days back my stool was loose with mucus and produced lot of gas.
I also had beet root few days back and I passed pink urine. Never experienced that before.

Is this normal for IBS or is this symptom for something else ?

2. I am also diagnosed for sub clinical hypothyroidism and taking tablets for three months now.
I have reduced my diet and eat less quantity of rice. more vegetables and fruits.
My weight is reduced from 74 kg to 68 kg in last 3 months.

Is this weight loss abnormal ?

I am Dr.Senduran,General physician hope to answer your query..I understand your concerns.

1)Pink urine -->Unlikely to be related with IBS.Probably the consumption of beetroots could be the cause.If it is recurring or any symptoms like burning/painful urination,get an urinalysis done..

2)Weight loss -->With healthy diet(with fruits,vegetables,less rice etc) and thyroid hormone replacement therapy,weight loss is expected and it is normal..Nothing to worry..
