Brief Answer: It looks like Bacterial Vaginosis. Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thank you for the answers. After analyzing your history & symptoms, it seems to be a simple Bacterial Vaginosis infection. It is usually due to change in the bacterial vaginal flora. If you were my treating patient I would have examined you clinically, get a PAP smear examination done, also a microscopic examination of the discharge and put you on Metronidazole oral tablets + Doxycycline tablets for 5 days, along with that I would have given you vaginal Clindamycin clotrimazole pessaries for 3 days. Kindly visit your doctor for clinical examination and prescription. If the symptoms recur you might need an extended course of treatment. Painful intercourse could be due to vaginal excoriation, or vaginal douching. Kindly avoid scratching the vulval area. Keep the vulval area clean and dry. A saline bath (two handfuls of kitchen salt in a shallow warm bath) or a saline wash (1 teaspoon of kitchen salt in one pint or 600ml of water) is soothing. Please ask if you have more questions. If you are satisfied, please make sure that your ACCEPT my answer so that I receive credit. Good luck!!

Brief Answer: You need doctors visit for PAP test. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXXXXX I apologize for the late response; I was away from my computer due to unavoidable reasons. Coming back to your question, yes you need to abstain from intercourse till this infection is resolved or else you need to use some barrier contraception till the infection subsides. Regarding the medicines, I can understand your situation. But unfortunately these antibiotics needs to be taken only after proper examination and confirming the diagnosis. There are many things which needs to be confirmed by a clinical examination, hence a doctor visit is must. Also a PAP test is must (PAP test is a screening test for cervical problems). Till you get your medicines let me suggest you some home remedies, which might prove little benefit: 1)Eat lots of yogurt-- Probiotics help to restore normal bacteria and yeast levels in mucus membranes of the vagina. 2) You can also use lactobacillus vaginal pessaries which might be available over the counter. 3)Eat lots og garlic--it contains antibacterial and antifungal properties. 4)Take multivitamin supplements: especially vitamin C to boost your immunity. 5)Avoid sexual intercourse till infection subsides. 6)Take extra care to keep your vaginal area clean and dry. 7)Avoid fatty foods, go for green vegetables. Please ask if you have more questions. If you are satisfied, please make sure that your ACCEPT my answer so that I receive credit. Good luck!!
