Brief Answer:
Not at all possibility of death, provide details about intake of alcohol

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

I appreciate your decision to quit alcohol. It is good decision for health as well for your future.

When someone is taking alcohol regularly since more than 6 months, after stopping suddenly it can cause some withdrawal features. These include sleep disturbance, tremors, anxiety, reduce appetite, low mood and so on. They gradually come down. But most of the persons try to take alcohol again to stop withdrawal. In some patients with chronic and high intake, severe withdrawal feature may occur without treatment called, 'delirium tremens' in which convulsion may occur.

However alcohol deaddcition can be done successfully with help of medicines under supervision of doctor.
No one die due to alcohol withdrawal until some physical problem is there due to chronic intake of alcohol itself.

Revert back to with your duration ,frequency ,type and quantity of alcohol intake as well as your general physical condition.

Hope this answer is helpful.

Hello,

I drink every evening, never during the day. It is usually five or so 12 ounce beers and a pint of whiskey. Sometimes a bit more. My general physical health is good, as per my last check up (blood pressure, liver function, weight, etc.). If I stop tomorrow I think I can endure some temporary discomfort. The thing is, I do not want to risk death. Do you think this is likely?

Brief Answer:
Not at all risk of death

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for information.

Considering your intake of alcohol there is possibility of moderate withdrawal features if you stop without help of medicines and no chance of death at all.No need to worry at all.
It is good that physical findings are normal.

If you can consult psychiatrist once for deaddiction it would help a lot.

If still any query there, I will be happy to answer. If not, you can close the discussion and if feasible give your feedback and rating so I can improve my service. In future you can contact me directly on this site if you wish with this link:
