Question: any ideas on losing weight? I'm about 5'9 200lbs. I work 3-4 times a week. my problem is eating. I feel like I have no impulse control with food and I am always hungry. I don't eat like horrible food just over eat. Just wondering if you might have some tips or know of any supplements that might help?

Brief Answer:
Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic

Detailed Answer:
I can give you several tips on how to curb your appetite and lose weight back to your usual weight.

First, there is soluble fiber which expand in your stomach to send satiety signals back to the brain. Soluble fiber can be found in psyllium, fresh fruit and vegetables. Having a source of soluble fiber 20 minutes before mealtime can help you to fill up on less food with more calories. Remember to always gradually increase your fiber or you will get gas and cramping and drink adequate water of 8-10 glasses per day with the fiber.

Slowing down your eating by consciously counting the number of times you chew before swallowing.

Drink a source of caffeine in the am to reduce hunger.

Synephrine and Yohimbe are also appetite inhibitors but may be too anxiety producing for use during the day and certainly not at night. Synephrine has been cleared of the claims of elevating blood pressure and deemed to be safer than once thought. Yohimbe might cause nausea and gastric upset.

Other herbs known to cause a mild appetite suppressant effect include ginger and Caralluma fimbriata and a supplement called Hummerus 3 (Ginger, Black seed and Fennel, all 3).

I hope some of these suggestions give you an idea of what to look for in terms of natural appetite suppressants.

Sincerely,

Kathy Shattler, MS, RDN

I hope some of these suggestions you may find helpful.
