What Can Be Done About Binge Eating? When I Get

Question: What can be done about Binge eating? When I get stressed I will start binge eating. I will start eating and continue until it is completely gone. (I may start with 2 pieces of toast and finish the half loaf of bread) After I may fast to gain control again. When I was a child we did not have extra food, and we're restricted on eating: no treats, no deserts, no extra helpings of food. I was very thin growing up, but now I struggle with being overweight. I do not like this binge eating at all, but sometimes I crave foods that I was not allowed to have growing up.

Binge eating disorder
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You do not have purging. Only mild symptoms of binge eating. Anti-depressants are prescribed for binge eating. I would not suggest a medicine for your mild binge eating. Weight can be controlled by exercise also. If you are binging then binge on fruits and salad. Avoid the grains and especially the fatty foods. This will help control your weight. Behavior therapy by a psychologist can be of help to you. Get your fasting blood sugar levels checked.
Meditation can also help in decreasing the cravings.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
