Question : My daughter has epilepsy and takes the highest dose of Keppra Ra she can. Lately she has been falling frequently. She has sustained some significant injuries as a result. Her neurologist says it is her thyroid and her endocrinologist says it is her epilepsy. She has been bounced back and forth for over a year. No one wants to listen, What can we do?

Brief Answer:
Further evaluation and a second opinion are necessary.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Before to say that epilepsy or thyroid is the culprit further examinations are necessary.

Video EEG and complete thyroid function tests (TSH, T3, T4 levels) are necessary for this purpose.

Also, you should have a second opinion from different Neurologist and Endocrinologist after these examinations in order to be sure about the cause of your daughter's recurrent falling.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
