What Can Be The Harmful Effect Of Inhaling Meting Plastic Fumes?
Question: The rubber or plastic feet of a trivet I had on my wood fireplace insert's cooktop melted. It took me several hours to realize where the smell was coming from. Two of the feet melted onto the stovetop. It's cold and rainy, but I'm airing the place out the best I can. Am I safe to spend the night at my house? And how do I remove the melted rubber once the cooktop cools off?

- Open room doors and windows for a while and start fan so that maximum air is cleaned.
- Extinguish fire before going to bed.
- If ever such thing happens so first thing you should do is to cover your face with some cloth or mask for minimal inhalation.
Although it would be difficult to clear to the melted rubber but you can try to wipe it off by using some sharp instrument like knife. Hopefully it will clear off the melted portion.
