Brief Answer:
It can be due to endocrine causes or IBS related symptoms

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us.

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, though frequent urges to pass bowel with your age group can be related to IBS but usually, it doesn't accompany urination.

IBS can be understood as a condition due to multiple neuropsychological factors which may lead to altered bowel control and can be triggered by a known or unknown stressors and is usually present in adolescents.

Since both acts i.e. urination and defecation are controlled by the autonomic nervous system and most of the bowel-bladder sphincter get supply from similar nerves so anything affecting the normal nerve control can cause such symptoms with increased frequency.

Endocrine causes like diabetes or thyroid issues may sometimes cause the same and should also be screened. A urinalysis to rule out urine infection should also be done.

If all these are unremarkable, an ultrasound and CT scan pelvis may be needed for any mechanical lesion compressing on bowel or bladder. Avoid using caffeine, alcohol if any and please refrain from taking too many fluids at night after dinner.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hope this has answered your query.

Take care.
