Question : I am a 65 yr old female diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and being managed by humira & lialda. For 2 days now my stool is total water & green in color. I cannot think of anything I ate that would cause this so I'm wandering what causes this and should I be alarmed?

Hello Mam,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.

I read your condition and query very carefully.You might be having some viral or bacterial intestinal infection which is causing green stool.Sometime these infections go on it own without any specific treatment.You can wait and observe for 1-2 more days(if you have no fever or chills now).In case it is still the same you should visit your physician.

There can be one more factor which can cause green stool,that is bad reaction to a food.Some people are sensitive to certain types of foods, including foods with lactate or high fat content. Bacon in and of itself is not known to cause diarrhea but it could be a food that you individually don't tolerate very well.

Make sure to drink lots of fluids (preferably something with electrolytes ) and to eat a simple diet.
