Question : Hello on Nov 8, I wrote a question but need to modify that because of the changes w/
my health . I wrote I had pain in calf and behind knee and thigh. I still have the pain.
Sometimes I can not sleep at night it is so bad. I said I had a bruise under knee
and sent in a pic. That turned out to be frost bite from putting so much ice on my leg,
so the bruise is not a problem anymore I went to orthopaedic surgeon and he said,
do a MRI of knee, even though knee is not as bad as calf and thigh at times.
Turned out I have Grade 111 chondromalacia patella and prominent hypertrophic osteophytes extending superiorly from the upper pole of the patella into the suprapattar recess. Is that enough problem to produce all this????
He said I should do physical therapy. But I think the pain is from my hip or
back and radiating down my leg, althogh my leg and back feel fine.
What type of Dr. should I see next? Or what type of tests should next?
Can this be all from a pinched nerve? Sometimes a lot of pain where I can
not even sleep, and other times its not that bad.Thank you so much.

Brief Answer:
You should see a Neurologist also.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
In my opinion you should see a Neurologist and discuss your concerns.
Starting from your symptoms there is need to investigate/ rule out any nerve damage ( herniated disc disease, nerve entrapment, neuropathy) in order to obtain a correct diagnosis.
Test should be ordered after neurologic examination and include lumbar column radiography, MRI of lumbar column, nerve conduction study ( ENMG).
Hope this helps. If you have further questions feel free to ask.

That makes sense, thank you. I have an appointment with
physical therapy on Wed. I am thinking of cancelling since
I do not know what really is wrong with me. Do you agree?
