What Casues Red Bumps On Back Of The Calf?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Jul 2014
Question: I have 2 small areas of red bumps on the back of my left calf. They showed up after my trip to the US Virgin Islands a week and a half ago. They itch, but it is minor and I mostly don't notice that it's there. They are defined bumps that all happen to be grouped together. It looks like a group of about 40 and a group of 20. They haven't seemed to get worse or spread, but they also haven't gotten any better.

Brief Answer:
Allergic contact dermatitis is a possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
welcome to HCM.
I have read your query and understood you concern.
I have seen the attached pic also. Thanks for the same.

It seems that you have got allergic contact dermatitis. It is an allergic reaction to some allergen in contact with skin.

I usually advise my such patients to apply a combination cream of antibiotic and moderate potency steroid (like clop G cream) over the lesions twice daily for 7-10 days.
Additionally oral antihistaminics like levocetrizine 5mg is advised in night time for few days.

Avoid contact with harsh soap and synthetic clothes.

I hope it helps. If you have any further query, you may ask me.
Stay healthy.
