Question : Hello, I am XXXX My son is very sick and has not been eating since two days. He has been puking a lot. Even he has been having loose motions. He has become very weak. It is a lab and a hound mix. We are worried about him. Except for water he is not drinking anything. Can you please help me out? Thanks, XXXX

Brief Answer: Relax Detailed Answer: Thanks again. Acute gastrointestinal infection is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days. Most important is to maintain and monitor hydration. I suggest you to give exclusive breastfeeding . In case you are giving top feed proper sterilization of bottle is needed. In case of persistent vomiting anti emetic like ondensteron can be given. Give probiotic XXXXXXX for few days. Watch for features of dehydration like -refusal of feed/deceased urine output/lethargyand in case you observe any get your baby examined by pediatrician to access dehydration and treat accordingly.
