Question: Hello Doc, In 2012, first time i faced problem of Alopecia Areta. It was in primary stage and i consulted with Allopathy doctor. She suggested some lotion to apply on scalp and pills to eat. But after 4-5 months continue observation i didn't get any improvement and she asked to get steroid injection on scalp area. After 2-3 dosages it got recovered. But again it came back into 2013 but in dofferent part of head. This time i am following ayurvedic doctor. She told me that your immune system is weak and due to that your own immune susyem is attacking on your hair folicles. Same problem i am facing on to my beared as well. Brief Answer: take injections Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the query. Alopecia aerata is actually hyperactivity of immune system. Your own immunity destroys the hair follicles. When an episode of alopecia aerata is there, steroid in the form of injection or tablet is given to control immunity. There is no permanent cure for this disease. The best thing is steroid injections. Better take it once again. Oral steroids may cause gastric ulcers . I would suggest you to continue with ayurvedic medication. These medicines help in regulating immunity. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you

Brief Answer: injection is safe Detailed Answer: Hello The only side effect of injection is localised thinning of skin. This happens on excessive use for months. However it is the best and safest treatment. Injection can be given even in beard. You can try application of raw onion paste, overnight. Apply it twice a week. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you
