Question : I have a light brown raised spot on my scalp. Its tender and painful and bleeds sometimes. I had melanoma in 2009 on my hip that spread to lymph nodes. should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Please have this checked promptly.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

While the characteristics of what you are describing could be a number of things which are benign (actinic keratosis, sebbhoreic keratosis, and others), given your history, it is important to get any new spot that wasn't there before checked out. I recommend going to a dermatologist promptly. Can you get in to see one in the first half of next week?

I don't want you to panic, and melanoma is usually darker than the light brown that you described, but getting it checked soon is the way to address this.
