What Causes A Bug Bite Like Swelling In The Forehead?
Question: hi, my wife gets swelling like a bug bite on forehead sproadically (image attached). it usually occur during rainy season mostly and itch like a mosquito bite. it lasts for few hours and then goes away.
any suggestions what possibly causing it and what is it. any precautions we must take.

I am Dr. kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have viewed the image.
I can see a wheal with a surrounding red flare. This Urticaria. It can happen in response to an allergen, may be a particular food or food preservative, drug or a body infection (bacterial, viral or fungal). Scratching (Dermographism) or Pressure can also induce a localized patch of urticaria (Pressure Urticaria) as can Sunlight (Solar Urticaria), Cold temperature (Cold induced Urticaria), exercise (Cholinergic urticaria) and contact with water (Aquagenic urticaria). Histamine released from body's Mast cells is the main chemical mediator responsible for urticaria. On face urticaria is more common in patients with a sensitive skin type as they have a low threshold for histamine release. Treatment is largely symptomatic with an H1 oral antihistamine e.g Cetrizine or loratadine or fexofenadine. I suggest her to take a tablet of Loratadine (Tab. Dazit 5mg Or Tab. Alaspan 10mg) next time she develops urticaria.
