Question : Hello Doc. I am 27 years old and have a 4 months old boy. This my 2nd kid. I have noticed that post delivery I feelings towards sex has reduced to a lot of extent. I don't feel like having it most of the times. I am not sure if this is normal but am worried coz it has taken a toll on my sexual life. Additional question would be that I had my first menstruation just a few days back. I had the bleeding for 3 days only. Ideally it would bleed for 6-7 days before my pregnancy. Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
Need not be overly worried...

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

At 27 years, usually there are no other serious medical causes for reduced libido. Most often the causes are physical and physiological. If it's taking a toll on your personal life, I suggest talking to your partner. Usually it is temporary and symptoms would improve in a few months.

As far as menstruation is concerned, yes initially periods are deranged. It is secondary to hormonal changes as well as effects of lactation. Again it will also get back to normalcy over a period of time. You need not be overly worried.

Happy Motherhood!! Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
