What Causes A Discolored Indentation Below The Kneecap?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 May 2017
Question: Hi. I have a small indentation right below my kneecap and I'm not really super sure what it is. The skin inside the indentation is a different shade than the the skin around the outside of the indentation. It's not painful, and I can straighten my knee just fine. I did have surgery on my knee when I was a kid because I knelt down on a sewing needle, and it broke off inside. But I never really noticed the indentation until now, if the surgery is what caused it.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

If there is no pain, no bluish colouration, no swelling, then there is no need to worry.

It may be due to previous surgery, which was done.

All you need is to watch if, their is swelling or bluish or reddish color change as if it happens then there may be need of aspiration and xray to rule out cause.

I hope you got the answer.

Thanks,
