Question: Hi, I noticed a patch on my right leg, just under the knee where no hair is growing. the area feels slightly dry, and a little rough or bumpy to the touch. I work twice a week at a supermarket which involves bending down on that knee a lot, I wondered if this was a possible cause, and if not, then what is? Thank you so much :)

Brief Answer:
It may be overuse injury. Kindly see detailed answer.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As per your age and your history, I think it may be overuse injury i. e. bending down a lot. Other causes may be sprain, Injury or blunt trauma, ligament tear, runner's knee. Let me know whether do you have pain, difficulty while stepping up or down, fever? Kindly follow up with detailed history.

You can apply diclofenac gel or ointment over it. Apply ice for 3 to 4 times a day over it. For pain you can take tab. Aceclofenac plus seratopeptidase. As these are prescriptions medicine, kindly consult with your doctor. I'd suggest you to do ☓ Ray knee joint or MRI knee joint after orthopedician consultation. Use knee cap. Don't give much stress on knee. Take rest. I think this will clarify your concern. Kindly follow up if you have any query. Take care.

Hi, this isn't what I was asking about. It's the skin under my knee thats the problem. I don't have a problem with my knee.

Hello and welcome back.

I can understand your concern. As you have dry skin over knee, causes for that are dehydration, allergic reaction, working in dry or harsh environment, long hot bath, using different soap, tried lot of moisturizer cream, tight clothing. Kindly check whether you have history of one of these.

I'd suggest you to use simple moisturizer having no alcohol or perfume. Keep yourself well hydrated. Take proper balanced diet. For more detailed history and examination kindly consult with dermatologist to rule out conditions like eczema, contact dermatitis. I think this will clarify your concern. Thank you.
