default
Posted on Thu, 12 Mar 2015
Question: Symptoms: a sudden flush feeling behind eyes like something was rushing in. Followed immediately by weird feeling in back of head right above neck. Like tingling and pressure at same time. Feeling behind eyes was gone quickly but weird feeling in back of head above neck remains. Also started feeling a bit hot but that could be anxiety. What could this be? Should i go to ER?

Brief Answer:
just wait and watch approach would be better

Detailed Answer:
Hi, XXXXXXX good morning
Thanks for asking question.
Something weird feeling in the back of head can be due to vasovagal, arterial pulsatility or anxiety as you said, or it might be felt during urination for a while.

If you can describe it more specifically like that feeling like pain or giddiness or tingling or numbness or something crawling etc and since how long you have that kind of feeling, is it continuous or intermittent, is it increasing or decreasing etc ,then it can help a doctor to get some differential diagnosis.

See, in this type of case, exact history and accurate description of symptoms would be the only clue to go further as there is no scope for physical examination here because if we would go for investigations like CT brain, EEG, MRI brain will always come normal in 99.99% cases and no certain diagnosis can be made despite had lot of costly investigations done.

I think it would subside automatically after few hours or minutes like your something flushed feeling or rushing in eye gets subsided.

In certain neurological disorders like seizure, neuropathy, multiple sclerosis etc this list is too big to be written here completely, one can have this weird feeling in head but the main thing in these diseases is they would be diagnosed by many other symptoms and signs which are significant.

I hope you got my point, so if this feeling is not bothersome to you, then I would say no need to worry and just wait and watch for few hours. If problem persists continuously and last for more than couple of days then you can consult neurologist.
Thanks and do reply me.

I still feel a bit of pressure in back of head but now have a real pain on right side of face - temple area. It gets worse when i bend down. Also there is tightness feeling with the pain. The tightness goes down the right side to below the ear - not while face just far right. And i took an aspirin about an hour ago and the pain in the right temple started after that. Does this change any of your response?

Brief Answer:
Tab.Aceclofenac or Tab.combiflam with antacids

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking followup query.
See if you have taken Tab.aspirin and not getting pain relief although there is nothing wrong with taking aspirin but this can be due to tension headache or migraine or cluster headache or temporal arthritis or middle ear infection or TM joint radiating pain or trigeminal neuralgia etc.

But you don't worry of all this..

Let me get straight a way, take Tab.aceclofenac100 mg with Tab.paracetamol 500 mg with Tab.chlorzoxazone 25 mg the last one is muscle relaxant along with antacid like Tab.pantoprazole 40 mg. Aceclofenac, Chlorzoxazone are prescription drugs.

You have a gas trouble or acidity but only after 3 to 5 hours of aspirin. ( as u have already taken it)
If you are facing only these symptoms means there is no other symptoms then it is due to tension headache or cluster headache, in both cases immediate treatment is same.
Take bed rest and if not feeling sleepy then take Tab.Alprazolam 0.5 mg once only. Again, Alprazolam is a prescription drug.

You will be alright after getting up.

Thanks and do reply me.
